Services

Praxoria Institute provides psychological services for adults seeking support with concerns that may be complex, sensitive, highly personal, or difficult to discuss.

We have a particular interest in areas of psychology that are often underserved or accompanied by stigma. This includes complex mental health presentations, sexuality and sexual interests, behavioural concerns, forensic issues, relationships, identity, and experiences that people may have struggled to speak about openly elsewhere.

Our approach is respectful, confidential, and individualised. We recognise that seeking psychological support often requires trust, particularly when the reason for seeking help feels difficult to disclose.

Praxoria currently offers individual therapy and psychological assessment, with specialist group therapy programs in development. New client enquiries are considered individually to ensure our experience and services are appropriate for your needs.

Individual Therapy

A confidential space to talk openly. Individual therapy at Praxoria provides a private, respectful, and non-judgemental environment for exploring concerns that might feel difficult to discuss elsewhere.

Our specialist areas include support for minor-attracted people (MAPs), including people attracted to children or infants. Therapy might focus on understanding and living with attraction, maintaining an offence-free life, managing sexual thoughts or behaviours, reducing distress, addressing shame or isolation, strengthening protective factors, relationships, identity, or broader psychological wellbeing.

Praxoria also works with a limited number of clients experiencing other complex concerns, including:
• Depression, anxiety, and emotional distress
• Trauma and complex trauma
• Personality-related difficulties
• Psychosis and other complex mental health presentations
• Sexuality and sexual concerns
• Behavioural and impulse-control difficulties
• Relationship and interpersonal difficulties
• Forensic or offending-related concerns
• Adjustment, identity, shame, stigma, and social isolation

Therapy is tailored to your needs, circumstances, and goals rather than following a single predetermined approach.

Available in person and via telehealth.

Assessments

Understanding the person, not simply producing a score.

Praxoria provides psychological assessment for adults where a clearer understanding of cognitive, psychological, behavioural, personality, or functional factors is required.

Assessment is selected according to the referral question rather than applying the same battery to every client. Depending on your needs, an assessment might involve clinical interviews, standardised psychological measures, cognitive or memory testing, behavioural measures, review of relevant records, and information from other sources where appropriate and with consent.

Assessment services may include:
• Cognitive and intellectual assessment
• Memory and neuropsychological screening
• Personality and psychological assessment
• Diagnostic clarification
• Functional assessment
• Behavioural and risk-related assessment
• Psychometric assessment
• Assessment of complex clinical presentations

Following assessment, findings are integrated into a written report where required, with recommendations tailored to the purpose of the assessment.

Assessment fees vary according to complexity, testing requirements, report preparation, and the referral question. A fee estimate is provided before assessment begins.

Group Therapy (Coming Soon)

Coming Soon

Praxoria is developing small, structured group therapy programs for selected areas of psychological need.

Groups will provide a professionally facilitated environment where participants with relevant shared experiences can develop skills, increase understanding, reduce isolation, and work toward specific therapeutic goals.

Programs are expected to include specialist groups addressing sensitive or stigmatised concerns, including prevention-focused support.

Group programs will be introduced progressively. Participation will involve an individual suitability assessment before enrolment to support safety, confidentiality, and appropriate group composition.

Register your interest to receive information when group programs become available.
